'Chandu Champion' Box Office Collection: After a slow start, Kartik Aaryan's film sees growth on Day 2

After a lukewarm first day, Kartik Aaryan's 'Chandu Champion' showed decent growth at the box office on Day 2. The film, directed by Kabir Khan, managed to mint Rs 6.75 crore on Saturday, per early estimates. With positive word-of-mouth, the sports biopic is expected to pick up pace on Sunday (June 16).

Kartik Aaryan's 'Chandu Champion' has grown significantly on its second day in theatres. It opened at Rs 5.4 crore, which was also one of the lowest opening numbers for Kartik in recent times. Drawing a sizeable audience on day 2, the film managed to mint Rs 6.75 crore on its second day, demonstrating an astonishing rise of 40 per cent in occupancy. So far, the film has collected ₹11.5 crore in India. Chandu Champion had an overall 21.27 per cent Hindi occupancy on Saturday.

'Chandu Champion', which was released on June 14, is jointly backed by Kabir Khan, Sajid Nadiadwala and Pen Studios. Apart from Kartik Aaryan, the film features Vijay Raaz, Shreyas Talpade, Rajpal Yadav, Bhagyashri Borse and Sonali Kulkarni.

The film depicts the remarkable journey of Murlikant Petkar, India’s first Paralympic gold medallist. To portray a freestyle swimmer convincingly in the film, Kartik underwent intense training, reducing his weight from 90 kgs to 72 kgs and his body fat from 39% to 7%. Recently, the actor shared a viral before-and-after transformation picture on social media, showcasing his journey from an 'insomniac' to a 'fitness enthusiast'.
