‘Brahmastra’: Delhi HC restrains 'rogue' websites from streaming the film, says piracy must be curbed

In a relief for one of the producers of Bharamastra, the Delhi High Court has restrained illegal streaming of upcoming film, following a suit moved by Star India in relation with copyright infringement.

The order came after Star India, which is the co-producer of the film, stated that availability of the yet-to-be-released film online at the time as its theatrical release or in close proximity of the release would severely impact producers' financially and also destroy the value of the film.

The HC observed the investments made by Star India in the production and promotion of the film, saying the exclusive right vested in it under the provisions of the Copyright Act.

'Brahmastra Part One: Shiva' is set to release on September 9.

The HC ordered authorities to block the websites named by Star India and also asked the Centre to issue necessary notifications to internet service providers to block access to these websites.
