‘Bhootnath’ to ‘Bumm Bumm Bole’: Best films to watch this Children’s Day

Children's Day is celebrated every year on November 14 to commemorate the birth anniversary of India’s first Prime Minister Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru, who was fondly known as Chacha Nehru. Indian cinema has made several movies for children that are great to watch for their feel-good quotient and the lesson they impart.

Here is a list of some movies that you could watch on the occasion of Children’s Day.

Stanley ka Dabba (2011)
This comedy-drama is about a popular schoolboy Stanley.
A greedy teacher, who forces students to share their tiffin with him, forbids Stanley from entering school as he doesn't get his own lunch box. The 59th National awards decided to confer the Best Child Artist award to Partho Gupte.

Bumm Bumm Bole (2010)
The film revolves around two siblings Pinu and Rizim. They decide to share a pair of shoes till their father can afford to buy another. However, their father is unable to find a job and is also suspected of criminal offenses after which things begin to look tough.

Toonpur Ka Superhero (2010)
This was India’s first live-action animated action comedy film starring Ajay Devgn, Kajol, Sanjay Mishra, Tanuja, and Mukesh Tiwari in lead roles.
Famous actor Aditya Kumar plays a superhero in movies, but his cartoon-loving son calls him a 'fake hero' as he uses body doubles for stunts. He gets an opportunity to show his son that he is a hero when he is kidnapped by the cartoon characters.

Bhootnath (2008)
The film is an adaptation of Oscar Wilde's 1887 short story ‘The Canterville Ghost’. It tells the story of Banku, whose parents shift into a sprawling mansion in Goa, which is haunted by a ghost. With time, Banku bonds with Bhootnath, played by Amitabh Bachchan, and they become good friends. The movie shows the beautiful relationship between them and their adventures together.

Taare Zameen Par (2007)
Starring Aamir Khan and Darsheel Safary, this film revolves around a kid named Ishaan, who is unable to perform well at school as he suffered from dyslexia. His parents send him to a boarding school where he meets an unconventional art teacher named Ram who helps him overcome his learning disability. The film beautifully portrayed the relationship between the teacher and student and showed how a teacher can double up as the parent and look after a student.
