Akshay Kumar to portray Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in his debut Marathi film: 'I will give my best'

Actor Akshay Kumar is all set to make his Marathi debut with Mahesh Manjrekar’s next, titled 'Vedat Marathe Veer Daudale Saat'. He confirmed that he will be portraying the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the film and he bagged the role because of Raj Thackeray.

At the mahurat shot event he said, 'I am playing the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. I got the role because of Raj Thackeray, he told me, ‘Akshay you should do this role’. And I was taken aback. It is a huge deal for me to play the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It is a huge task, and I would like to say I will give my best.'

Expressing his excitement, the 'Rustom' actor said, 'It's a dream come true role for me. I think to portray Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on the big screen is a very huge responsibility. I was taken aback when Raj sir asked me to portray this role. I feel so good to be playing this part and it’s going to be a dream come true role for me. Also, I will be working for the first time with Director Mahesh Manjrekar, and it is going to be an experience.'

'To play the role of such a legendary personality is a huge responsibility. I am so happy about this. It is dream come true kind of a role,' Akshay added.

Apart from Akshay Kumar, the event was attended by Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde, MNS chief Raj Thackeray, and the film’s director Mahesh Manjrekar.

'Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat' is expected to release in theatres on Diwali 2023 in Marathi, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
