Alia Bhatt won Best Actor in a Leading Role (female) for &lsquo;Gangubai Kathiawadi&rsquo;, while Hrithik Roshan bagged the trophy of Best Actor in a Leading Role for &lsquo;Vikram Vedha&rsquo;.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' won several awards in the technical categories, including for cinematography, screenplay and dialogue.
Babil Khan, son of late Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan, shared the Best Debut (male) award with Santanu Maheshwari. The former won for his performance in 'Qala', while latter won for &lsquo;Gangubai Kathiawadi.&rsquo;

Actor Alia Bhatt was supposed to travel to Abu Dhabi to attend the International Indian Film Academy Awards. However, she had to skip the event reportedly due to a family emergency. According to ETimes report, Alia's maternal grandfather, Narendra Razdan, is currently admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai and is in critical condition. A source close to the Bhatt family informed ETimes that the actor&rsquo;s grandfather reportedly has a lung infection which has become worse.
The source said, &lsquo;In the morning the family got a distress call that the doctors wanted to shift him to the ICU. There was a decision taken not to take him to the ICU, but to make him comfortable within the room. He's 95 and as of now he's in the sunset hours.&rsquo;
On the professional front, Alia Bhatt will next be seen in Karan Johar&rsquo;s &lsquo;Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani&rsquo;, co-starring Ranveer Singh. The first look posters of the film were released on the filmmaker&rsquo;s 51st birthday.

Sources further say that the script for the movie has already been written and includes many previously unknown stories about 'dada's' life.
Many prominent stars have been speculated to play the role of Sourav Ganguly including actor Ranbir Kapoor.

Now, the film's producer Anand Pandit , in a recent interview, has shared that Randeep lost 26 kgs to play the role of Hindutva ideologue Vinayak Damodar Sarvarkar. He said that the actor had only one khajoor and one glass of milk for four months until the shooting got over. The producer added that Randeep Hooda shaved his head off as well for the role.
Anand Pandit also revealed that initially Mahesh Manjerekar was supposed to direct the film, but due to date issues he had to step down.&nbsp;
'Swatantrya Veer Savarkar' is expected to release in September.

Speaking with Hindustan Times, he said, 'Frankly you can&rsquo;t escape politics in today&rsquo;s day and age. It&rsquo;s very hard for cinema to be non-political. A lot of films that we call propaganda films like The Kerala Story are being made. I&rsquo;m totally against banning anything but it is a propaganda film. That&rsquo;s political. I don&rsquo;t want to make a film that sounds like counter-propaganda.'
He added, 'As a filmmaker, I don&rsquo;t want to sound like an activist. I&rsquo;m making cinema. Cinema has to be based on reality and truth and the politics of it comes from the politics of the world it is based on and the truths and facts of the world it is based on.'
When asked if he can make films he wants to, given the socio-political climate in the country, the filmmaker replied that people can't shut down anything that's factual and not taking sides.
'If you are honest you can. They can&rsquo;t shut down anything that&rsquo;s factual and not taking sides. Counter-propaganda can also be dishonest, but honest, they can&rsquo;t fight it,' Anurag said.&nbsp;
