Actor Rajkummar Rao appointed as Election Commission's national icon

Actor Rajkummar Rao has been officially announced as its national icon by the Election Commission of India ahead of forthcoming election season in the country.

Through this effort, Rajkummar will try to increase the vote percentage in the elections. After being made a national icon, Rajkummar said, 'There can be no better experience than voting in a democracy. We have to ensure that we contribute to the festival of democracy.’

On the occasion of this special event, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said, with the joining of actor Rajkummar, the voting percentage will definitely increase in the upcoming elections in 5 states. We are not paying him any fees for this, his passion is not just for the film 'Newton' and goes beyond that.

Before Rajkummar Rao the Election Commission has made many players and actors its national icons. Earlier, the Election Commission had recognized actors Pankaj Tripathi, Aamir Khan and players like Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and MC Mary Kom as national icons.

On the work front, Rajkummar will be seen playing the role of actor Mahendra Singh Dhoni in 'Mr. and Mrs. Mahi', while Janhvi will play the role of a character named Mahima. This film is going to be released in theaters on 15 March 2024. Apart from this, Rajkummar also has many other interesting projects in his kitty. He will soon start shooting for 'Stree 2'.
