Aamir Khan's 'Laal Singh Chaddha' becomes highest grossing Hindi film at international box office

Aamir Khan’s 'Laal Singh Chaddha' could not perform well domestically, but the film has made a record at the worldwide box office. Bollywood Hungama reports that the film has become the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2022 in international markets. It has overtaken hits like 'Gangubai Kathiawadi', 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2', and 'The Kashmiri Files'.

It’s been over a week since the movie was released, and it has now made $7.5 million (Rs 59 crore), surpassing 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' ($7.47 million), 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2' ($5.88 million), and 'The Kashmir Files' ($5.7 million). Each of the three movies were massive hits in India.

'Laal Singh Chaddha' was produced on a budget of Rs 180 crore and its making started before the pandemic. The film has made a little over Rs 55 crore. Its worldwide gross is Rs 126 crore now. If the movie gets a release in China and performs well there, it can turn a theatrical profit. Aamir has been a major star there and his 'Secret Superstar' and 'Dangal' were successful.

'Laal Singh Chaddha' has been directed by Advait Chandan. It also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh, and Naga Chaitanya. The much-awaited movie was released in the theatres on August 11.
