25 Years of Aishwarya Rai: Take a look at the beauty queen's debut film Iruvar with Mani Ratnam

Right from being a beauty queen to a remarkable actress, Aishwarya has excelled in all departments. Recently, she completed 25 years in the industry since she made her debut in the film 'Iruvar.'

Directed by Mani Ratnam, 'Iruvar' was listed among the 1000 greatest films ever made by the British Film Institute in 2012.

Inspired by the lives of three chief ministers of Tamil Nadu — MG Ramachandran, K Karunanidhi and J Jayalalithaa, the film examined the intersection of politics and films. Aishwarya’s character in' Iruvar' was inspired by Jayalalithaa.

'Iruvar,' which translates to ‘The Duo’ in English, also featured Mohanlal (in his Tamil debut), Prakash Raj, Gautami, Revathi and Tabu, among others.
