UP Election 2022: Rebel Congress MLA from Sonia bastion Rae Bareilly, Aditi Singh, joins BJP

It's bad news for Congress from Meghalaya to Uttar Pradesh. Ahead of the next year's Assembly elections in UP, Congress MLA from Rae Bareilly, Aditi Singh, joined the BJP on Thursday.

Aditi Singh shifting to the BJP assumes significance as the Rae Bareli Lok Sabha constituency is held by Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

An increasingly vocal critic of the Congress and its leadership, Aditi Singh last week slammed Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for questioning the controversial farm laws

Aditi Singh had fallen out with the Congress in 2019, when she met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, but did not cut ties with the party, formally, till now.

The Congress had petitioned the UP Assembly speaker to disqualify Aditi Singh for anti-party activities.

Aditi Singh's father Akhilesh Singh was a five-time MLA from Rae Bareilly seat and was very close to the Gandhi family.
