Despite Aam Aadmi Party's victory in Punjab, it is a candidate of the Shiromani Akali Dal who is capturing attention on social media. The name of an Akali Dal candidate, and his defeat in the recent elections, has become a topic of online conversation.

The candidate is Winnerjit Singh Goldy, who was fielded from Sangrur. Winnerjit secured 7.24% of the votes, and lost to Aam Aadmi Party's Narinder Kaur Bharaj. Following the declaration of results, social media users pointed out the irony of Winnerjit losing.

Winnerjit is former Vice-Chairman of the Pepsu Road Transport Corporation. He faced BJP's Arvind Khanna, AAP's Narinder Kaur, and Congress' Vijay Inder Singla in the February 20 election. Singla came second, BJP third, while Akali Dal's Winnerjit ended up fourth in the polls.
