Comedian Shyam Rangeela's nomination papers rejected from Varanasi Lok Sabha seat

Comedian Shyam Rangeela who filed his nomination papers on May 14 to contest the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency against Prime Minister Narendra Modi had his candidacy rejected, according to multiple reports

Rangeela's papers were rejected after he failed to submit an affidavit, the Economic Times reported citing sources.

Notably, Rangeela, known for his impersonations made headlines recently after he claimed despite multiple attempts since May 10, he was not permitted to file his nomination papers. In a video on X, Rangeela claimed he was denied access to the Magistrate's office the day PM Modi filed his nomination.

On May 14, the comedian informed he successfully filed his nomination. However, after scrutiny, his nomination papers were rejected on May 15, the Election Commission of India's portal revealed.
