Amroha to witness fierce 3-way contest: Danish Ali vs Kanwar Singh Tanwar vs Mujahid Hussain

Amroha, known for its 'dholak' industry and mangoes, is gearing up for a heated electoral showdown in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Situated in the heart of the Rohilkhand region in western Uttar Pradesh, Amroha finds itself at the centre of a three-way contest involving the BJP, INDIA bloc, and the Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).

The battle for the parliamentary seat sees the incumbent MP and former BSP leader, Danish Ali, who recently switched to the Congress, facing off against the BJP's Kanwar Singh Tanwar and BSP's Mujahid Hussain. Notably, Amroha has seen a rotation of MPs in every election over the past 40 years.

Danish Ali, born on April 10, 1975, into a Muslim family in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, began his political journey with the Janata Dal (Secular) before joining the BSP in March 2019. He contested the LS polls 2019 and emerged as the winner. His tenure as BSP's leader in the Lok Sabha lasted from November 6, 2019, to January 13, 2020. However, he faced suspension from the BSP on December 9, 2023, due to alleged anti-party activities.

Kanwar Singh Tanwar, a BJP stalwart, hails from Fatehpur Village in Chhatarpur, Delhi. Elected to the Lok Sabha in May 2014 from Amroha seat. Despite his track record, he faced defeat in the 2019 elections against Danish Ali by a significant margin.

Adding to the mix is Mujahid Hussain, the BSP's choice for the constituency, whose political profile and strategies remain to be seen in the electoral arena.
