Ajeet Sharma, father of actor Neha Sharma, is up against JDU's Ajay Kumar Mandal in Bhagalpur | LS polls

Bollywood actor Neha Sharma's father Ajeet Sharma is a Congress leader and is contesting from the Bhagalpur Lok Sabha seat. He won the Assembly elections in Bihar in 2014, 2015 and 2020.

Bhagalpur is popularly known as the silk city. However, this time, Bhagalpur is hitting headlines for the political battle. Before the 1989 Bhagalpur riots, in which over 1,000 people lost their lives, the constituency was a Congress bastion. Since the riots, the Lok Sabha seat has been won by RJD, JD(U) or BJP.

Congress' Ajeet Sharma will be up against JD(U) MP Ajay Mandal. Many voters in Bhagalpur also said that the sitting MP Mandal has been missing for the last five years but the votes would be given to him as it would bolster the chances of PM Narendra Modi returning to power.

Bhagalpur will go to polls in the second round of the seven-phase general elections on April 26.
