US to soon begin study visa application process for Indian students

For the upcoming Fall Session, the US is preparing to process student visa applications. It further stated that starting in mid-May, the first round of visa appointments would be made available.

'Attention students! In mid-May, the U.S. Mission to India will open the first batch of appointments for the upcoming student visa season. Additional appointments will be released later in the season. Prepare for your appointments and stay tuned for more student visa-related announcements!' the US Consulate General in Hyderabad said in a tweet.

The US hopes to expand visa interview appointments for Indian students by 30% this summer, according to Mike Hankey, the US Consul General in Mumbai.

According to him, about 1.25 lakh student visa applications from India were processed by US consulates last year.

The visa waiver programme for in-person interviews has been extended by the US government through December 31, 2023
