Microsoft Outage Explained: Here's what was impacted

In this video we're diving into a major global outage that hit Microsoft, affecting various industries worldwide.

On Thursday, 19th of July, users across the globe experienced significant disruptions due to a failure in Microsoft services, including Azure and Microsoft 365. Users experienced what's called as the Blue Screen of Death error, which is causing the system to suddenly shut down or restart. Microsoft confirmed that its services are suffering a global outage across the US, Australia, India among other countries.

This outage had a ripple effect, impacting flight services, media companies, and even stock exchanges.

In the US, the first issues were reported, causing Denver-based Frontier Airlines to ground its flights for over two hours, attributing the problems to Microsoft's online services.

Indian airlines like Akasa Air and SpiceJet also faced challenges. SpiceJet took to Twitter to inform passengers about the technical issues affecting their flight updates.
IndiGo, the airline with the largest market share in India, reported longer wait times and slower check-ins due to the Azure issues

The outage hit the London Stock Exchange's RNS news service, though other operations continued as usual.

The media wasn't spared either. Sky News in the U.K went off-air, and in Alaska, emergency helplines like 911 faced operational issues.

Meanwhile, in India - the Stock exchanges BSE and NSE have confirmed that there is no impact from the global outage linked to Microsoft's technical issues.

Microsoft, in a statement, said it was taking "mitigation actions" after service issues and that they remain committed in treating this event with the highest priority and urgency.
