Jaguar’s Bold Rebrand: A Leap Into an Electric-Only Future That Leaves Elon Musk Puzzled

The iconic British carmaker unveils a new logo and vision as it gears up for an all-electric transformation. But Elon Musk and netizens have mixed reactions—can Jaguar reclaim its place in the luxury car market?

Jaguar’s Bold Rebrand: A Leap Into an Electric-Only Future That Leaves Elon Musk Puzzled

Iconic luxury car brand Jaguar is getting a makeover. The British carmaker has unveiled a new logo and branding as it transitions to an all-electric future. However, the rebranding has left netizens puzzled.

Jaguar’s New Logo & Branding

In a press release, the company said: “A new era for Jaguar begins, with the reveal of a completely reimagined brand.” Jaguar’s Chief Creative Officer, Gerry McGovern, added that the new vision aligned with the philosophy of the carmaker’s founder, Sir William Lyons, who believed ‘A Jaguar should be a copy of nothing’.

Explaining further, McGovern said, “New Jaguar is a brand built around Exuberant Modernism. It is imaginative, bold, and artistic at every touchpoint. It is unique and fearless.” He added, “This is a reimagining that recaptures the essence of Jaguar, returning it to the values that once made it so loved, but making it relevant for a contemporary audience.”

Jaguar Rebranding: Musk Puzzled?

However, not everyone is impressed with Jaguar’s rebranding. The world’s richest man, Elon Musk—whose Tesla dominates the electric vehicles (EV) space—reacted to Jaguar’s rebranding video, questioning whether they even sell cars. To that, Jaguar replied with a firm "Yes" and invited Musk to their Miami event on 2nd December. That’s where the company will unveil a concept car showcasing their new look.

An Electric-Only Future

Jaguar, the British luxury carmaker, has decided to go all-electric. The company, owned by the India-headquartered Tata Motors, plans to launch three new luxury electric vehicles in 2026. In the run-up to its transition to an electric-only future, it has also discontinued the sale of its cars in its home country, Britain. However, the company will continue selling existing stock in other countries.

Pushing Higher In Luxxury Space

The automaker is aiming to push itself higher in the luxury car space. According to reports, the first electric car from Jaguar is expected to be a competitor to the Porsche Taycan, while it is also working on an SUV challenger for the Bentley Bentayga.
