Viksit Bharat Run Unites Global Indian Diaspora in Houston

Houston, Sep 29 (PTI): The Consulate General of India in Houston organized the Viksit Bharat Run at George Bush Park on Sunday, drawing over 900 participants. The event was a collaboration with Indo-American diaspora organizations and attracted families, youth, and seniors, who engaged in the 3–5 kilometre run and walk.

Participants enthusiastically waved the tricolour and carried banners highlighting India's developmental aspirations. Consular officials described the event as a demonstration of 'Seva Bhav' — the spirit of service — reflecting the deep connection between India and its global diaspora.

Many runners and walkers emphasized that the gathering was more than a mere fitness activity. It was seen as "a reaffirmation of our shared hope in India's future," with participants expressing that such events strengthen their bond with India's progress, even while living abroad.

On the same day, the Embassy of India in Washington D.C., in partnership with MY Bharat under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, held the Viksit Bharat Run 2025 in Maryland. As part of the Seva Pakhwada initiative running from September 17 to October 2, this event was among many held in over 150 international locations. The DC event featured a community run/walk, celebrated the spirit of service, and included the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' tree-planting campaign.

Houston was part of a global campaign, with similar runs in Seattle, Atlanta, San Francisco, and New York. Consular officials expressed gratitude to volunteers, associations, and families for their participation, describing the turnout as "a powerful expression of unity and shared purpose" towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
