Indian-Canadian Gangster Linked to Global Drug Ring Arrested in US

Ottawa, July 16 (PTI) - A notorious Indian-Canadian gangster has been apprehended in the United States for orchestrating a transnational drug operation in collaboration with a well-known Irish gang, as reported by local media sources.

Identified as Opinder Singh Sian, the gangster operated alongside the Irish Kinahan gang to facilitate the smuggling of methamphetamine and fentanyl precursors on an international scale, as detailed in a report by Global News on Tuesday.

According to documents from the U.S. court, Sian was arrested in Nevada last month by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

The documents further disclose that Sian, with the assistance of Turkish and American criminal organizations, participated in a conspiracy to import precursor chemicals from China and export narcotics through the port of Los Angeles to Australia, the report noted.

Connecting with the Brothers Keepers gang in Surrey, British Columbia, Sian was taken into custody in Arizona, with the related affidavit filed in California, the report revealed.

A Nevada judge has ordered that the 37-year-old Sian be held in custody pending his transfer to California, as reported by the Vancouver Sun, while charges against other suspects in the case have not yet been filed.

Sian previously survived two shootings in Surrey in 2008 and 2011. Brothers Keepers, a Canadian organized crime group, has established ties with other international gangs.

"Vancouver is the centre of gravity for hybrid warfare for transnational organized crime in North America," stated Scott McGregor, a former military intelligence operator, as quoted by Global News.
