Kyrgios had been scheduled to begin his campaign against Belgian former quarter-finalist David Goffin on Court One on Monday.

He had played only one match since, a defeat to Wu Yibing in Stuttgart last month, and admitted during his pre-tournament media rounds on Sunday that he was "almost dreading" his return.

I ended up in a psych ward in London to figure out my problems.' Kyrgios said he was 'drinking, abusing drugs' and his relationships with family and friends were deteriorating.
'That pressure, having that all-eyes-on-you expectation, I couldn't deal with it. I hated the kind of person I was,' he said. Kyrgios, who has previously discussed his mental health struggles on social media and in interviews, has spent many months on the sidelines with injuries since reaching the 2022 Wimbledon final, which he lost to Novak Djokovic.

Tennis' bad boy Nick Kyrgios landed himself in trouble once again and was fined US$ 10,000 for misconduct during his opening singles match at Wimbledon.
The 27-year-old Australian admitted to spitting in the direction of a 'disrespectful' fan and called a line judge a 'snitch' in an ill-tempered five-set win over Britain's Paul Jubb on Tuesday.
However, Kyrgios let his tennis do the talking in his second-round match on Thursday and won an impressive 3-setter against his Serbian opponent to enter round 3.
