Wimbledon relaxes all-white dress code for female players

After concerns being raised by female players over their anxiousness about competing during their periods, Wimbledon has decided to ease their traditional 'all-white attire for all players' rule.

Wimbledon chief executive Sally Bolton said, 'From next year, women and girls competing at The Championships will have the option of wearing coloured undershorts if they choose.'

Focussed on 'relieving a potential source of anxiety', the All England Club took the decision after consultation with players, the medical team and the management.

A lot had been said about the issue during this year's Wimbledon. A group of campaigners also protested at Wimbledon to drop the strict dress code over concerns for female players who are menstruating.

While several female Tennis players expressed their concerns openly about the issue, Australian Tennis star Nick Kyrgios broke the strict dress code in support of menstruating women by donning a red cap and sneakers at Wimbledon 2022.
