Novak Djokovic wins 4th consecutive Wimbledon title, beats Nick Kyrgios in the men's singles final

Novak Djokovic wins 4th consecutive Wimbledon title, beats Nick Kyrgios in the men's singles final

At the start of the year, it seemed unlikely for Novak Djokovic to extend his number of grand slam titles from 20 as he had to leave Australia over a visa fiasco due to the Covid-19 vaccine.

But the Serbian tennis star bounced back and how. Djokovic won his 21st grand slam title as he defeated Australia's Nick Kyrgios in the Wimbledon men's singles final 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3). Djoko has lifted the silverware at SW19 for the 4th consecutive year.

Kyrgios, playing his first Grand Slam final stunned his Serbian opponent by breaking his serve in the 5th game and eventually winning the first set 6-4.

35-year-old Djokovic then brought out his A-game and didn't allow the Australian to stage any comeback in the next two sets. However, Kyrgios tried his best in the 4th set and pushed it to a tie-breaker but failed to earn crucial points.

With his 7th Wimbledon title, Novak Djokovic became the first male player to win seven-plus grand slam singles titles in two different Majors. He has won the Australian Open nine times.

At 21 grand slam titles, he is now only 1 behind Rafael Nadal, who has the most. Roger Federer, who missed this year's Wimbledon, has 20 grand slam titles to his name.
