<p>Bollywood star Deepika Padukone will not be returning for the sequel of Telugu blockbuster "Kalki 2898 AD" as the producers and the actor couldn't "find a partnership", the makers announced on Thursday.</p>
<p>Vyjayanthi Movies, which produced the Nag Ashwin-directed film, also starring Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan, shared the news in a post on social media platform X, saying that the producers and the actor were unable to work out a collaboration for the project, which requires "commitment and much more".</p>

<p>Deepika, 39, has not yet commented on her exit from the franchise.</p>
<p>Inspired by Hindu scriptures, "Kalki 2898 AD" served as the first instalment in the planned Kalki Cinematic Universe in 2024.</p>
<p>Set in a post-apocalyptic world, the film followed a group of people set out to save a woman pregnant with Lord Vishnu&rsquo;s 10th and final avatar, Kalki, from an evil supreme god-king, Yaskin.</p>
<p>It featured Deepika as Sumathi aka SUM-80, Prabhas as Bhairava/Karna, Bachchan as Ashwatthama and Kamal Haasan as Supreme Yaskin.</p>
<p>The film released in June 2024 and earned over Rs 1000 crore at the global box office.</p>
<p>The development comes months after there were reports of Deepika's exit from filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga's "Spirit", also headlined by Prabhas. However, there was never any official confirmation of Padukone&rsquo;s involvement in the film.</p>
<p>In May, there were several reports which claimed that Deepika had raised concerns about certain sequences in the film&rsquo;s script and had requested an 8-hour workday. There were also differences related to her remuneration for the project.</p>
<p>Her alleged exit from "Spirit" had also led to a debate about flexible working hours for actors in the film industry.</p>
<p>The makers of "Spirit" later cast actor Tripti Dimri, who starred in Vanga's 2023 blockbuster movie "Animal", as the leading lady opposite Prabhas.</p>
<p>Deepika was most recently seen in filmmaker Rohit Shetty's "Singham Again". Her next project is an untitled project from "Jawan" director Atlee. In the movie, she will feature alongside Telugu superstar Allu Arjun.</p>

The Nag Ashwin directorial is currently the highest-grossing Indian and Telugu film of 2024. As fans celebrate its digital release on Netflix and Prime Video, they are eagerly anticipating the sequel.</p>
<p>Producers Swapna Dutt and Priyanka Dutt have confirmed that filming for the sequel to Prabhas and director Nag Ashwin's 'Kalki 2898 AD' will begin in early 2025. In an interview with News18, the Dutt sisters mentioned, &lsquo;Filming will begin in the next five or six months. Once production is underway, we&rsquo;ll be able to share more details.&rsquo;</p>
<p>Some scenes for Part 2 were already filmed during the production of the first installment, and pre-production for the sequel is currently in progress.</p>
<p>Swapna Dutt said that they're now excited for Part 2.</p>
<p>&lsquo;This time around, there&rsquo;s a lot more excitement than nervousness. I think there will be a lot more planning now. Whatever we did for part one, we were all just going by Nag Ashwin&rsquo;s vision. It often happens that you don&rsquo;t understand most of the things until you actually see the visuals. Now that we&rsquo;ve seen everything that Nagi [Nag Ashwin] has done and understood the way the audience has received it, we&rsquo;re going on to part two with an altogether different energy,&rsquo; she said.</p>

<p>Makers of 'Kalki 2898 AD' have reportedly issued a legal notice to trade analysts Sumit Kadel and Rohit Jaiswal for allegedly reporting false box office figures of the Prabhas starrer. According to Bollywood Hungama, Sumit has already received the notice, while Rohit is expected to receive it by Saturday, July 20.</p>
<p>These analysts, referred to in the industry as 'samosa critics,' accused the makers of Kalki 2898 AD of publishing inaccurate earnings on their social media platforms. A source cited by the entertainment portal claimed, 'They have been tweeting about it on a regular basis. Their tweets were slanderous and amounted to calling the producers as cheaters'.</p>
<p>The insider further revealed, 'The legal notice states that both Sumit Kadel and Rohit Jaiswal will now have to cite their source for the collections of Kalki 2898 AD, which they have given out and which they have claimed are the real earnings. That&rsquo;s not all. They&rsquo;ll also have to submit daily collections with a territorial breakup to back up their claim.
