Actor Ayushmann Khurrana says his upcoming film "Thama", which is set to hit the big screen this Diwali, is the "biggest release" of his career.
Known for projects such as "Badhaai Ho", "Shubh Mangal Saavdhan" and "Dream Girl" franchise, Khurrana stars in "Thama" alongside Rashmika Mandanna. The film is directed by Aditya Sarpotdar of "Munjya" fame.
Khurrana said it "feels amazing" to have the film release on Diwali.
&ldquo;For me, Diwali is about togetherness; it is about family and it is about having the best community experience by spending time with your friends. I&rsquo;m a big movie buff and every year, I have a ritual to go to the theatres with my family and watch a film on Diwali! We have so much fun together and it makes me so happy to see scores of people thronging to the theatres to watch these big releases," the 40-year-old actor said in a statement.
&ldquo;So, it feels amazing to have a big Diwali release with 'Thama'. It is the biggest release of my career and I&rsquo;m really eager to spread joy, happiness and laughter with the entire country with Thama. The fact that my film could be one of the reasons for people to have a great festive period feels really surreal," he added.
"Thama" is produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films and Amar Kaushik. It is the latest chapter in the studio's horror comedy universe, which includes films such as "Stree", "Bhediya" and "Munjya".

According to a Pinkvilla report, Rashmika and Ayushmann have been cast to play the leading roles in Maddock Films' 'Vampires of Vijay Nagar'. Quoting a source close to the development, the publication revealed, &ldquo;Ayushmann Khurrana and Dinesh Vijan have previously worked together on Bala and share a great creative bond. They have been discussing Vampires of Vijay Nagar for a while now and are all set to take the film on floors by the end of this year." The source also added that the team is aiming to start the film in November.
&ldquo;It will mark the first collaboration of Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna. Both the actors have a very unique arc in the film, which will take the audiences by surprise. The script is presently in the writing stage and will soon get into the pre-production stage,&rdquo; the source added.

Simply put stage 0 cancer/pre-cancerous stage, with cancer cells multiplying in a contained area. This mastectomy has left me with even more self-love! Mine has made me a 2.0 version of myself! This post is dedicated to the awareness, self-love and resilience of a warrior that I know each one of us possesses.&rdquo;

The sports biopic will be directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and it stands out as one of the most anticipated Hindi films in the pipeline. An official announcement regarding the collaboration is still awaited. The reports say that the formalities have recently been completed, and he has officially signed on for the project. Ayushmann is known for his left-handed batting style, which is being considered the best choice for playing Sourav, who is also left-handed.&nbsp; &nbsp; The reports also say that the film will go on the floors in 2024 while the exact shooting timeline is yet to be finalized. &nbsp;

Actor Ayushmann Khurrana, who is currently basking in the success of his latest film &lsquo;Dream Girl 2&rsquo;, has been honoured with the TIME100 Impact Award. He has received this award for his invaluable contribution towards pushing the content envelope in India through his brand of disruptive cinema as well as his exemplary work for child rights protection as the UNICEF Ambassador.
Ayushmann Khurrana is the only Indian to be chosen for the TIME 100 Impact Award this year.
Ayushmann is being honoured with this award for the second time in three years. In 2020, he was chosen to be amongst the 100 Most Influential People of the World.
Reacting to the news, Ayushmann said, &lsquo;This is the second time that the prestigious TIME Magazine has chosen to recognise the work that I do on camera as well as off it. Sourav Ganguly fans have eagerly been waiting for an update on his biopic. Now, if reports are to be believed Ayushmann Khurrana will be portraying the role of the former Indian cricket captain in the film.
Mid-day reported that Ayushmann would team up with director Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth for the biopic and the duo will kick off the shoot in December.
Ayushmann Khurrana will soon begin preparations as he will have to train in various aspects&mdash; from replicating Ganguly&rsquo;s batting stance to perfecting his manner of hitting winners on the off-side.
A source told Mid-Day, Ayushmann will begin training next month in Mumbai, giving him over two months to prep for the role before the project goes on floors in December.
Ganguly, who is closely involved with the Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg production, is said to have already met the leading man.
It&rsquo;s not clear yet if the first schedule will be shot in Mumbai or in the former cricketer&rsquo;s native city, Kolkata.
Meanwhile, Ayushmann Khurrana is currently basking in the success of his recent release &lsquo;Dream Girl 2&rsquo; co-starring Ananya Panday. In a press note, the makers said the film is Khurrana&rsquo;s &lsquo;biggest opener till date&rsquo;, surpassing the opening day figure of his 2019 movie &lsquo;Bala&rsquo; which minted Rs 10.15 crore.

'I&rsquo;m glad that Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is doing well. They&rsquo;ve set a good ground to address toxic masculinity because our film is going to take it to the next level. It has a lot of comedy,' the actor said.
Ayushmaan, who cross-dresses as a woman in the film, said he took inspiration from Kamal Haasan in 'Chachi 420' and Govinda in 'Aunty No. 1' for his role.
'Of course, you take inspiration from Kamal Haasan sir in Chachi 420 or Govinda in Aunty No 1. A lot of actors have done this, including Kishore Kumar ji. So actors have gotten an opportunity in every decade to play characters like these. I&rsquo;m glad I got it too with this film, which says a lot in a light-hearted, fun way,' Ayushmann said.
Ayushmann also spoke about his forthcoming film and joked that he wants to win both best actor and actress for his role in 'Dream Girl 2'.
He added that it was challenging to shoot the movie in 45 degrees in Mathura.&nbsp;
