WhatsApp is trying to provide calling capabilities to its full suite of applications. The Meta-owned firm was seen testing the calling capability on the Windows 11-compatible desktop application.

The ability to make calls through the WhatsApp for Windows app is still being tested, thus access is restricted to testers. Nonetheless, there is no reason why this capability would not become accessible to all users in the near future.

WABetaInfo discovered the feature in WhatsApp beta for Windows version 2.2240.1.0 between the conversations and status sections on the desktop app's sidebar is the calling icon.

People interested in testing the functionality can enrol in the beta app and download the current version of the beta version from the Microsoft Store. However, keep in mind that beta versions are typically riddled with flaws that may compromise the app's functionality.

The new calls tab in the WhatsApp app for Windows 11 synchronises with your mobile app, allowing you to view all call logs on your computer. The calls section also includes a search box for locating calls made to a certain contact. But there may be early difficulties. For example, calls made using the desktop app may not appear on your phone. A future update might potentially remedy this issue.

If you are a beta tester of the WhatsApp app for PC and still cannot view the calls tab after upgrading the app, WABetaInfo recommends restarting the app. Some users now have access to the beta version that includes the calling feature, but a bigger deployment is anticipated in the coming days before WhatsApp releases it for the stable version.

WhatsApp will compete with popular video calling applications like Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams when it adds calling capability to its desktop version.
