Report: Google developing AI products to compete with ChatGPT

Google is reportedly ramping up its AI development in response to the perceived threat posed by OpenAI's language model ChatGPT. The company's founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin have reportedly held meetings with executives about the potential impact of ChatGPT on Google's search business.

CEO Sundar Pichai has declared a "code red" and pulled teams off of existing projects to focus on building new AI products. Google is said to be planning over 20 new AI products, including a version of its search engine with chatbot features. The company might unveil a few of the products at its May 2023 I/O event.

The company is also working on tools for developers and consumers, such as a tool to make it easier to build apps for Android phones and a wallpaper maker for Pixel phones.
