Oppo Reno 8 series with MariSilicon X NPU to launch in July

Oppo Reno 8 and Reno 8 Pro are launching soon in India with a custom NPU chip for better imaging. 

Oppo Reno 8 series with MariSilicon X NPU to launch in July

Oppo has confirmed the launch of its Reno 8 series in India in the month of July. The series will consist of the standard Reno 8 and the Reno 8 Pro.

The phones will come equipped with Oppo’s proprietary Marisilicon X NPU chip for better imaging.

As per Oppo, this chip took three years to make and has 400 patents. It has got 3.6 billion transistors and can do up to 18 trillion things per second (18 TOPS).

MariSilicon X was made by Oppo with a 6nm chip architecture that delivers 11.6 TOPS per watt. This means that even when doing the most demanding tasks, MariSilicon X uses very little power.

The company has collaborated with Sony for RGBW pixel array technology which will be used on the latter’s 50MP IMX766 camera sensor.

Oppo also claims that its AI uses algorithms that render accurate Indian skin tones and even creates Bokeh Portrait Videos.
