Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 strap issue: Button-based straps prone to accidental detachment

Users of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Pro are experiencing strap issues with the new button-based mechanism accidentally detaching.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 strap issue: Button-based straps prone to accidental detachment

Samsung unveiled its latest smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, last month. These watches come with a revised strap mechanism compared to their predecessors.

However, it seems that this change has led to some issues, as Galaxy Watch 6 users have been reporting problems with the strap coming off easily.

Galaxy Watch 6 New Strap Design

The new strap design for the Galaxy Watch 6 employs a button instead of a pin for strap removal.

Users need to press the button to attach the strap securely, aiming for a more convenient method than the older pin-based system, which required pulling the pin back to attach the strap.

Unfortunately, some Galaxy Watch 6 users have experienced the unintended consequence of this new design.

Accidental button presses have resulted in the strap coming loose. This typically occurs when there is pressure on the wrist that inadvertently presses the button, which is located on the inner side of the strap.

Numerous Galaxy Watch 6 owners have voiced their concerns about this issue on platforms like Reddit. However, not everyone faces the problem.

Some users have reported no problems with the new bands, while others have suggested avoiding wearing the watch just above the wrist bone, as this could inadvertently press the button.

One solution to this problem is to revert to the older straps that use the pin mechanism, which are still compatible with the Galaxy Watch 6.

Conversely, the new button-based straps can also be used with the Galaxy Watch 5 and older models, making this a potential workaround.

Galaxy Watch 6 Recap

Samsung's latest smartwatch lineup includes two models: the Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic.

The Galaxy Watch 6 Classic notably reintroduces the physical rotating bezel, a beloved feature among fans. Both watches feature Super AMOLED Always On displays, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage, and offer up to 40 hours of battery life.
