Qualcomm launches Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 with advanced AI, Poco F6 to debut with new chipset in India in May

On May 13, Qualcomm announced its latest flagship 5G chipset, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, at an event in New Delhi. Additionally, Xiaomi's sub-brand Poco has announced to introduce the Poco F6 as the first smartphone to feature this chipset. Here’s more on the latest announcements about the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3.

Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 Details Announced

The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 packs advanced on-device AI capabilities, supporting generative AI and large language models such as Baichuan AI and Google Gemini Nano. The octa-core CPU includes one Prime Core running at up to 3GHz, four performance cores at up to 2.8GHz, and three efficiency cores at up to 2GHz. This setup aims to deliver optimal performance and energy efficiency.

The chipset can handle 10 billion parameters for on-device AI, enhancing multi-modal generative AI functionalities. It also features advanced photography capabilities, including the Cognitive ISP for superior imaging performance. Additionally, it boasts a state-of-the-art AI connectivity modem, offering high-speed, extensive coverage, and improved battery efficiency.

Details of the Latest Announcement on Poco F6

Poco will be the first brand to integrate the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 into its upcoming Poco F6 smartphone. Himanshu Tandon, Country Head of Poco India, confirmed this during the launch event.

The Poco F6 5G was recently announced to debut in India on May 23 at 4:30 PM IST, featuring the tagline "God Mode On." The phone’s teaser reveals a design reminiscent of the Redmi Turbo 3 and is expected to be its global rebranded version, suggesting similar specifications and aesthetics.

Poco F6: Expected Features and Specs

The Poco F6 5G has been confirmed to be powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, ensuring top-tier performance and on-device AI capabilities. The Poco F6 seems to be a rebranded version of Redmi Turbo 3 that was launched in China last month, so we can expect similar features like a 6.7-inch 120Hz 1.5K OLED display and a 50-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS)

The Poco F6 is will be available on Flipkart, as confirmed by the brand’s social media teasers.
