A tipster on X named Sanju Choudhary has dropped a tantalising tidbit for tech enthusiasts – the development of a new mid-range smartphone under the moniker "Nothing Phone 2a."

Nothing Phone 2a: What could it be?

Sanju Choudhary's revelation on X uncovered a potential mid-range smartphone in the pipeline, labelled the Nothing Phone 2a.

This revelation was accompanied by its model number, AIN142. Interestingly, this tidbit isn't entirely new, as the model name and number were previously validated in August via the IMEI database.

Design

As the leaks continue to roll in, glimpses of the Nothing Phone 2a's design have surfaced. Notable features include a distinctive LED strip on the rear panel, which bears a semblance to the design of Nothing's earlier Phone (1).

The device appears to adopt a boxy chassis with rounded edges, although it's worth noting that the final design may deviate somewhat from these initial renderings.

Display and Cameras

One significant revelation pertains to the display of the Nothing Phone 2a. It's expected to sport a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen, likely to deliver vibrant visuals. A punch-hole cutout on the display accommodates the selfie camera, aligning with contemporary design trends.

Camera enthusiasts may anticipate dual sensors on the phone's rear panel, with a strong possibility of a glass build. This could bode well for the device's imaging capabilities and overall aesthetic appeal.

Positioning in the lineup

The Nothing Phone 2a is anticipated to find its place in Nothing's smartphone lineup. Positioned between the previously released Nothing Phone 1 and Phone 2, it's expected to offer a compelling mid-range option for consumers.

Notably, it's poised to be slightly more budget-friendly than the Nothing Phone 2, ensuring a competitive edge in the market.
