OnePlus 12 global launch date tipped, will support wireless charging

A new report suggests that the OnePlus 12 could launch globally, including in India, on January 24, 2024.

The device is set to debut in China on December 5, 2023.

Clues from OnePlus Website

Android Authority reported that the OnePlus website provides a potential clue about the global launch date of OnePlus' upcoming flagship device.

The terms and conditions page for a giveaway on the site specifies that the giveaway will conclude on January 23, 2024.

Interestingly, the Indian OnePlus website mentions that the giveaway will end a day before the OnePlus 12's launch.

Global Launch Speculations

Given OnePlus' historical launch patterns, it's reasonable to expect the global launch of the OnePlus 12 to occur on the same day, encompassing markets like India, the USA, the UK, and several European nations.

Connecting the dots, it strongly suggests that the OnePlus 12 could make its global debut on January 24, 2024.

However, no official confirmation from OnePlus has been provided, leaving room for the possibility of an earlier launch.

OnePlus 12R: Expanding the Lineup

Notably, the giveaway page on the US website teases the chance to win a free OnePlus 12 or an upcoming new OnePlus product. This hints at the potential launch of another device alongside the OnePlus 12.

In the past, OnePlus introduced the 11R when launching the OnePlus 11, although it was exclusive to the Indian market. This time, the OnePlus 12R could potentially mark the R series' debut in the US market.

Indications from Oxygen OS 14 Builds

Android enthusiast and tipster 1NormalUsername delved into Oxygen OS 14 builds and identified references to multiple international variants of a possible OnePlus 12R device.

These findings suggest that the OnePlus 12R might be released outside of India this time around.

OnePlus 12 Camera Setup

Louis Jie, the head of OnePlus operations in China, unveiled that the OnePlus 12 will sport a 50 MP primary camera equipped with a Sony LYT-808 sensor.

In addition to this, he released a teaser featuring all three Hasselblad-branded cameras, disclosing that the ultra-wide camera will utilize a 48 MP sensor, while the periscope lens, offering 3x telephoto zoom, will incorporate a 64 MP imager.

To enhance the camera setup's capabilities, a 13-channel multi-spectral sensor has also been incorporated.

It's worth noting that this camera setup mirrors the one found in the OnePlus Open and the Oppo Find N3, with the only differences being in the internal architecture and design.

OnePlus 12 Wireless Charging

OnePlus China president Li Jie announced on Weibo that the OnePlus 12 will feature wireless charging capabilities.

Although the executive didn't disclose specific charging information, earlier leaks suggest wireless speeds of up to 50W.
