The upcoming iOS 17.5 update will bring significant changes for EU iPhone users, allowing direct app downloads from developers' websites and the option to disable tracking devices via the Find My app.

iOS 17.5 beta previews upcoming features ahead of official rollout: See what's new

As iPhone users in the EU region adjust to the new features introduced in the recent iOS 17.4 update, all eyes are now turning to the impending release of iOS 17.5.

This version is expected to be the final iteration before the much-anticipated iOS 18 announcement at the WWDC 2024 in June.

Download Apps From Developer Websites

One of the most significant changes anticipated in the iOS 17.5 beta version is the liberation of Apple users in the EU, who can now download apps directly from developers' websites.

This move marks a departure from the previous reliance on the App Store, following accusations of Apple charging developers fees for app installs and restricting access to external app sources.

With the EU ruling prompting Apple to open the gates, iPhone users are poised to make the most of this revolutionary change with the impending iOS 17.5 update.

Option to Disable Tracking Devices

Addressing privacy concerns, the iOS 17.5 beta version is set to tackle the misuse of AirTags and similar tracking devices.

The inclusion of code strings in the Find My app teases a feature to disable these tracking devices, offering assurance to users regarding their privacy.

Notably, this feature will extend to non-Apple tracking devices, underscoring Apple's commitment to safeguarding user privacy.

Subtle Design Changes

Amid the buzz surrounding iOS 17.5, eagle-eyed users have spotted subtle design tweaks in the beta version.

Apps such as Apple Books and the podcast widget on the home screen are undergoing minute adjustments, hinting at a user experience enhancement in the final release.
