Google Pixel 8a: New renders reveal design, specs and more

Just days after the launch of the highly-anticipated Pixel 8-series, leaks of the Pixel 8a renders have surfaced, providing a glimpse into the design and specifications of the upcoming A-series Pixel phone.

The leaked images showcase design similarities between the Pixel 8a and its premium siblings, as well as key details about its screen size and overall dimensions.

According to leaked renders by OnLeaks (via Smartprix), the Pixel 8a closely resembles the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, sporting a rear visor that houses two cameras, along with an LED flash module positioned similarly to the premium models.

An interesting design feature previously tipped and rumoured are the rounded edges of the device, reminiscent of earlier iPhones. The visor is separate from the side frame and the sides also feature a power button, volume rocker, SIM tray, and cellular antenna markings.

The top side is equipped with an antenna line, mic hole, and a possible ultrawide-band antenna marking, while the bottom side includes a USB-C port and a speaker grille.

The suggested dimensions of the Pixel 8a measure at 152.1 x 72.6 x 8.9mm, indicating it might be smaller than its predecessor, the Pixel 7a.

The leaked information suggests that the Pixel 8a will feature a screen size of around 6.1 inches, slightly smaller than the Pixel 8's 6.2-inch panel.

The bezels of the Pixel 8a, especially the chin, are expected to be more noticeable compared to the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. A hole-punch cutout for the front camera is also evident.

The Pixel 8a is expected to be powered by the Tensor G3 SoC, specifically an underclocked version (with a max frequency of 2.91GHz) compared to other Pixel 8 phones.

Alleged Geekbench listings suggest that the device achieved a score of 1218 points in the single-core test and 3175 points in the multi-core performance test.

The CPU may be paired with a Mali-G715 GPU, offering enhanced graphics capabilities. Furthermore, the Pixel 8a could include the Titan G2 security chip and various AI enhancements.

In terms of memory, the leaked Geekbench appearance indicates that the device will come equipped with 8GB of RAM, with the possibility of additional RAM and storage options being available.

The Pixel 8a is rumoured to be available in cream and blue colour options. However, there is a possibility of more colour variants being offered.
