Google I/O 2022: Pixel 6a, Pixel Watch, and other big announcements

At its I/O event on Wednesday, Google showcased a number of highly-anticipated Pixel products. This includes the new Pixel 6a, Google's budget phone that costs $449, and will feature the Tensor chip. The phone will go on sale from July 28 in the US, with pre-orders starting July 21. In addition to this, Google also revealed its latest wireless Earbuds, the Pixel Buds Pro. They cost $199 and feature active noise cancellation. The earbuds will come in black, red, and green colour options, and will be available to preorder in the US from July 21st. Apart from this, Google finally gave us a quick look at the much rumoured Pixel Watch, its first in-house smartwatch.

The device will run Wear OS and offer FitBit features like continuous heart rate monitoring, and sleep & exercise tracking capabilities. Google says the Pixel Watch will not work with iOS devices—just Android phones. Google also teased the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro smartphones with redesigned cameras and new colours. Both handsets are slated to launch later this year alongside the Pixel Watch. Finally, and very surprisingly Google is working on a Pixel Tablet and its scheduled for a 2023 release. There's not a whole lot of information available about the device but Google claims the Android-powered tablet will act as a “perfect companion" to Pixel Phones.
