      • Rivals offer larger batteries at this price point
      • No clarity on what happens to updates for the regular Note 14 Pro+
      • Performance could have been better

Redmi’s Note 14 Pro+ is back in the spotlight, and this time it’s wearing a new champagne gold finish. Underneath, it’s the same hardware we saw when the phone first launched in India back in December, but the refreshed look, paired with Android 15-based HyperOS 2 out of the box — gives it a bit of extra polish.

Xiaomi sent over this new variant, and we couldn’t resist taking it for a spin. We’d already reviewed the standard Pro model, but this is our first proper chance to see what the Pro+ has to offer. And as it turns out, there’s more to like here than just a fancy paint job.

      Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G: Price & availability

The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G in Champagne Gold starts at ₹27,999 for the 8GB/128GB variant. If you need more room, the 8GB/256GB model comes in at ₹29,999, while the top-end 12GB/512GB version will set you back ₹32,999.

You can grab one on Amazon, Flipkart, Xiaomi’s official website, or at authorised retail stores across India.

      Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G: New colour & design

Xiaomi clearly wants the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ to feel like more than just another mid-range phone, and in many ways, it succeeds.

The new champagne finish is a perfect example: subtle enough not to scream for attention, yet classy enough to turn heads when the light hits it just right.

It joins the Titan Black and Spectre Blue colourways, and while the overall design language doesn’t change, the champagne hue adds a layer of quiet sophistication.

The glass back meets an aluminium mid-frame that gives the phone a sturdy, premium feel. The glossy sides curve just enough to make it comfortable to hold, but not so much that it feels slippery.

There’s also a pleasing thickness to the frame that gives you something solid to grip, which isn’t always the case with phones in this segment.

Around the back, the camera island takes on a squarish profile that actually complements the design instead of feeling tacked on. Xiaomi has been guilty of overcomplicating its camera modules in the past, so it’s refreshing to see something this clean and well-integrated.

If you’re feeling adventurous, there’s the Phantom Purple with its vegan leather back — bold, grippy, and different. But for those who prefer the timelessness of glass, champagne gold might be the sweet spot.

Durability is another area where the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ punches above its weight. You get Gorilla Glass 7i on the back for scratch resistance and the more premium Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front to handle those accidental drops better.

Xiaomi has even added an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance — a genuine standout at this price.

      Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G: Software

If you ask me, the software update on the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ is the real headline here — far more significant than the champagne gold finish, which, let’s be honest, is purely cosmetic.

When the phone first launched, it shipped with Android 14, and Xiaomi caught some flak for that, especially as rival brands were already rolling out Android 15.

This update was long overdue, but it’s great to finally see Android 15 paired with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2.0. It is worth pointing out that the phone still comes with Android 14 out of the box, but you can upgrade to Android 15 and HyperOS 2.0 right away from the settings.

The overall UI feels smoother and more intuitive. There’s solid customizability too — from tweaking app layouts and the app drawer to reworking the quick settings shade.

That said, bloatware is still here. You’ll find plenty of pre-installed apps and games cluttering things up, though the good news is most of it can be uninstalled if you want a cleaner setup.

Xiaomi promises three years of Android updates and four years of security patches on the Redmi Note 14 Pro+, which is decent — but rivals like Samsung and OnePlus have already raised the bar with longer support windows.

      Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G: Display

Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 14 Pro+ doesn’t reinvent its display formula, but it polishes the experience in all the right ways. The 6.67-inch AMOLED panel has a gentle curve along the edges, though it’s subtle enough not to interfere with swipes or gestures.

Redmi thoughtfully ships it with a pre-applied screen protector — probably a good thing since hunting down a replacement for curved glass can be a pain.

We’re still partial to flat screens for their no-nonsense usability, but this curve isn’t a dealbreaker. As for brightness, Redmi boasts a wild 3,000 nits peak. In real-world testing, though, we saw it max out closer to 1,300 nits — still very bright and perfectly fine even under harsh sunlight, but you’ll probably only hit that headline number in very specific scenarios.

Unlocking the phone is handled by an in-display fingerprint scanner that feels quick and reliable. No missed reads, no hesitation — just tap and go. Streaming is where the screen really shines.

With HDR10+ and Dolby Vision baked in, Netflix content pops with vivid colours and punchy contrast, making it a great little media machine. Pair that with stereo speakers that do a solid job for podcasts and casual viewing, and you’ve got a phone that feels built for entertainment.

      Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G: Camera performance

The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ offers a 50MP Light Fusion 800 primary sensor (straight from the Xiaomi 14 Civi), a 50MP telephoto — a first for the Redmi Note lineup — and an 8MP ultrawide. Up front, you get a 20MP selfie camera.

In daylight, the main camera is impressive: sharp details, vibrant colours, and reliable dynamic range. The 2x and 2.5x zoom options are surprisingly solid too, making framing shots a breeze. The ultrawide, though handy, doesn’t quite keep up in sharpness and edge detail.

Low-light performance is good for the segment, with night mode stepping in to deliver clean, colorful shots most of the time. The selfie camera, however, overdoes the skin smoothing even with beauty filters off.

Video tops out at 4K 30fps, and while it’s fine for casual use, don’t expect cinematic quality.

All said, the Note 14 Pro+ offers one of the most versatile camera systems you’ll find in a mid-range phone — especially with that telephoto lens at this price.

      Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G: Chipset & performance

Snapdragon’s 7s Gen 3 sits at the heart of the Redmi Note 14 Pro+, paired with a slightly beefed-up Adreno 710 GPU. On paper, it’s a solid mid-range setup, and for the most part, it feels that way in day-to-day use. Apps open quickly, scrolling feels smooth, and multitasking doesn’t seem to faze it.

Push it harder, though, and you’ll start to see the seams. The phone can handle games, but Xiaomi’s thermal controls kick in fairly early to keep heat levels manageable.

That means longer sessions in demanding titles can lead to some noticeable throttling, and you may have to dial back your settings to keep things smooth. To its credit, the phone doesn’t run excessively hot — warm to the touch, sure, but not uncomfortable.

Haptics also get an upgrade thanks to a new x-axis vibration motor. It’s not flagship-grade like the Xiaomi 15’s ultra-precise feedback, but it’s clean and sharp enough to make typing and navigation feel more premium than the price tag suggests.

It’s also worth noting that all Redmi Note 14 Pro+ variants stick with UFS 3.1 storage instead of UFS 4.0. It’s not a huge issue for most users, but faster read and write speeds would’ve been a nice touch at this price.

      Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G: Battery & charging

If there’s one thing the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ nails, it’s battery life. Xiaomi stuffed in a 6,200mAh cell — and while rivals like iQOO and Poco are already flirting with 7,000mAh territory, this is still a very respectable number. What makes it interesting is the use of silicon-carbon tech, which allows for higher energy density and better performance.

In practice, the battery easily holds its own. The Note 14 Pro+ breezes through two full days of use without breaking a sweat. Even on heavier days filled with gaming, video calls, and endless scrolling, it didn’t feel desperate for a nightly charge.

When you do need to top up, Xiaomi’s 90W fast charging has you covered. It takes just over an hour to get back to 100%, and yes, the charger is included in the box (a small win in 2025). Xiaomi also includes smart charging features to protect battery health over the long run

      Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G Review: Verdict

The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ feels like Xiaomi at its confident best. The elegant Champagne Gold finish gives it a touch of class, the big 6,200mAh battery goes the distance, and Android 15 with HyperOS 2.0 finally brings the software experience up to speed.

The cameras are versatile for the price, and the inclusion of a telephoto lens makes this one of the most complete shooters in the segment. Sure, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 isn’t the fastest chip in this bracket, and UFS 3.1 storage feels a little dated compared to some rivals

But for most users, the performance is more than capable — whether you’re gaming, multitasking, or just pushing through a busy day. Add in the premium touches like Gorilla Glass Victus 2, an IP68 rating, and fast 90W charging, and the Note 14 Pro+ comes across as a well-balanced all-rounder.
