Smartphone makers love chasing big specs — higher refresh rates, bigger cameras and faster processors.
Oppo’s new phone goes the other way. It’s built around practicality. The F31 Pro+ doesn’t scream flagship killer; it whispers endurance, durability, and daily reliability.
Launched at ₹32,999, this is the third sub 40K smartphone from Oppo in recent months, but it’s the only one built like it’s ready for a drop.
With a massive 7,000mAh battery, military-grade rugged certification, and triple IP ratings, the F31 Pro+ positions itself as the dependable offering
But in 2025, is durability enough to justify that price tag? And does it deliver where it counts: performance, display, cameras, and software? We put it through the test to find out.
Design: Built tough, but not without quirks
The Oppo F31 Pro+ definitely looks the part. We got the Gemstone Blue variant, and it’s eye-catching without being flashy.
The dual-tone finish shifts between a bluish-purple hue depending on the light, and the circular camera ring glows and gives a ring light design.
That said, the back attracts smudges quite easily. Oppo includes a back cover in the box, and trust me, you'll want to use it.
In terms of in-hand feel, the aerospace-grade aluminium frame sounds great on paper but doesn’t feel premium due to the fibre-glass build. The phone is slightly wide, and I personally found one-handed use a bit challenging.
However, at just 7.7mm thin and 195g, it’s surprisingly light for a device packing a 7,000mAh battery. The fingerprint scanner is accurate, but for me, the placement is a bit low.
Where it does shine is durability. This phone is a tank. MIL-STD-810H certification, triple IP ratings (IP66, IP68, IP69), and a multi-layer shock-absorbing structure make this one of the most rugged phones in its class.
It’s even tested to survive 18 types of liquids. While I didn’t accidently (or on purpose) spill any coffee on it, the F31 Pro+ feels like it can take some abuse.
Display & Audio: Big, bold, and binge-ready
The F31 Pro+ comes with a 6.8-inch AMOLED display that offers crisp visuals with a 120Hz refresh rate, FHD+ resolution, HDR10 support, and 1600 nits peak brightness.
I used this phone on a bright sunny day and I didn’t face any problems while using it.
Colours pop, viewing angles are solid, and the Vivid mode is great for binge watching. Netflix HDR worked well during my testing, and watching Wednesday showcased excellent skin tones and deep blacks.
Stereo speakers offer good balance, and you can increase the volume to 300% by using its ultra volume mode.
Performance & Thermals: Good enough, but not a powerhouse
This is where the F31 Pro+ struggles a bit. It’s running on the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. It's a capable chip, sure, but also starting to show its age.
Phones in the same price range are already moving to the newer 7 Gen 4 and now you have phones like the Poco F7 that run on the powerful Snapdragon 8s Gen 4
I also ran some benchmarks on the F31 Pro+. In Antutu, it scored 10,71,320 and on Geekbench, it got 745 in single core performance and 2501 multi-core.
Real-world use? It’s fine. Multitasking, calls, emails, video playback are all smooth. I ran BGMI at the highest settings and it gave me constant fps and the temperature stayed cool.
Speaking of temps, thermal management is great . The 5,219mm² SuperCool VC system kept everything in check.
Battery Life & Charging: The real MVP
This is where the Oppo F31 Pro+ truly shines. The 7,000mAh battery is second only to the POCO F7’s monstrous 7,550mAh pack in this segment.
Still, daily usage tells the real story. Casual users can easily expect 1.5 days on a single charge, even with streaming, social media, and light gaming.
Charging is fast: 80W SuperVOOC tops it up from 0% to 100% in around 90 minutes. Oppo also includes Bypass Charging, which powers the phone directly from the charger during gaming which is super useful as it helps to reduce battery degradation over time.
Cameras: Reliable, but not versatile
The F31 Pro+ comes with a 50MP OIS main sensor and a 2MP monochrome camera, plus a 32MP front camera. There’s no ultra-wide, no telephoto, so if you want versatility, this isn’t the right phone for you.
Daylight shots are natural - skin tones are a bit on the warmer side. The images are also not very saturated so it gives them a flat tone, and sometimes shadow often gets crushed.
Portraits are decent, with decent edge blur and skin tones that stay relatively accurate.
Selfies are just okay sometimes it smoothens the skin tone, and highlights can blow out. Low-light shots are where the camera starts to struggle. You can see the noise, flares, and soft edges easily.
Software: Needs work
Out of the box you get ColorOS 15 on top of Android 15. Oppo promises 2 years of OS updates and 3 years of security patches, which I would say is decent but not industry-leading.
The device comes with Bloatware. It ships with preloaded apps like “Hot Apps” and “Hot Games”. While some of it can be deleted, the cluttered UI takes away from the otherwise fluid software experience.
That said, Oppo’s AI features like real-time translation, call summary, and image object removal are handy.
Verdict: Who should buy the Oppo F31 Pro+?
The F31 Pro+ is not the phone for performance junkies or shutterbugs. But if you want a smartphone that’s durable, dependable, stylish, and doesn’t need charging every 8 hours, this one ticks a lot of boxes.
Buy it if:
- You want MIL-STD grade ruggedness and IP69 protection
- You prioritise battery life and thermal efficiency
- You value a large, sharp display and great audio
Skip it if:
- You want a versatile camera setup
- You need top-tier performance for gaming or editing
- You hate bloatware
At ₹32,999, the Oppo F31 Pro+ feels like a phone that’s built to last, both inside and out — but just needs a little more power under the hood to feel truly complete.
