Lenovo Tab P12 Design & Utility

The Lenovo Tab P12 is a big tablet for sure, measuring 12.7 inches. Yet, it is surprisingly light and slim, making it easy and comfortable to use.

I personally enjoy large-screen tablets, and the P12 is a great find in the market of budget-friendly options as it offers a perfect blend of affordability and a large screen.

Moreover, the tablet impresses with its stylish metallic back panel and sturdy metal frame, though it tends to smudge easily.

Still, its design is practical, with well-placed buttons, speakers on both sides, a memory card slot, and a Type-C port.

Even with a protruding camera, it doesn't wobble too much on a flat surface. There's also a power button which serves as a fingerprint scanner, and from what I've tested, it's pretty accurate.

Additionally, the tablet features a software-based face unlock system that works quickly, especially in well-lit conditions..

Lenovo Tab P12 Display & Audio

The Lenovo Tab P12 features a 3K 16:10 LCD screen, toughened up with Gorilla Glass 3, so it's pretty durable. Overall, the display is a winner – colors look spot-on and it's easy to see even in bright sunlight.

Plus, the viewing angles are great; no issues with the screen getting dim or washed out. One slight issue is the 60Hz refresh rate.

It's a bit behind what some other tablets offer at this price, like 90Hz or 120Hz. But, the Tab P12 has a cool trick up its sleeve with Lenovo's TruReal Display tech.

It adjusts the screen colors based on your environment, which is really easy on the eyes, especially in lower light.

The immersive visual experience is further complimented by quad-speaker setup tuned by JBL with Dolby Atmos support.

The sound is loud, clear, and bass-rich, though the side placement of speakers can cause the audio to muffle a little bit when being used in landscape mode.

      Lenovo Tab P12 Camera

The tablet comes with an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 13MP front-facing camera capable of recording 4K videos.

The rear camera performs well in daylight and well-lit indoor settings, though low-light conditions result in noisy and blurry images.

The front camera is adequate for selfies and video calls, delivering sharp photos with good color reproduction.

      Lenovo Tab P12 Performance

The Lenovo Tab P12 packs quite a punch with its MediaTek Dimensity 7050 SoC, edging out competitors that run on the Snapdragon 695.

It's also equipped with 8GB of LPDDR4 RAM, making multitasking and running demanding apps a breeze. Additionally, with 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage, you get quick data access and speedy boot times.

For those who need more, there's a memory card slot for up to 1TB of extra space, great for heavy users.

On Geekbench, it scores 962 in single-core, outperforming the OnePlus Pad Go, though its multi-core score of 2396 is slightly lower.

Nonetheless, gaming on the Lenovo Tab P12 is a standout experience. Playing high-demand games like BGMI on HDR settings with ultra frame rates goes off without a hitch.

The tablet maintains consistent performance with no lag or overheating, a notable achievement for a tablet in this category.

Lenovo Tab P12 Battery and Charging

The Lenovo Tab P12 comes with a hefty 10,200 mAh battery and supports 20-watt charging. In my experience, it effortlessly handles a mix of activities like gaming, browsing, video streaming, and productivity apps all day long.

Even after such heavy use, it usually still has about 30% battery life left. What really stands out is how well the battery holds up during gaming.

Starting with a full charge, I played BGMI for 30 minutes on the highest graphics settings and only saw a 12% battery drop.

This really shows off the tablet's excellent power management, allowing you to game for longer periods without worrying about constantly recharging.

But, if you do need a top up, then the bundled charger will take around 2 hours and 35 minutes to charge the tablet from 15% to 100%, which is quite reasonable considering the size of the battery.

      Lenovo Tab P12 Software

Running on Android 13, the Lenovo Tab P12 offers a clean and responsive software experience, free from bloatware. There are a few third party apps like Opera for example but these can be easily uninstalled.

In addition to this, Lenovo is promising 2 years of Android upgrades and 4 years of security updates.

      Lenovo Tab P12 Pros

The Lenovo Tab P12 Pros include:

      • Large Display & High Resolution: The 12.7" IPS LCD with 1840 x 2944 pixels offers a large and clear viewing experience.
      • Lightweight and Slim Design: Weighing 615g and 6.9mm thick, it's easy and comfortable to use.
      • Stylish and Practical Design: Features a metallic back panel, sturdy metal frame, and well-placed ports and buttons.
      • Effective Fingerprint Scanner and Face Unlock: Provides quick and accurate security options.
      • High-Quality Audio: Quad-speaker setup by JBL with Dolby Atmos support ensures a rich audio experience.
      • Strong Performance: Powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7050 SoC and up to 8GB of RAM, suitable for multitasking and gaming.

      Lenovo Tab P12 Cons

The Lenovo Tab P12 Pros include:

      • 60Hz Refresh Rate: Falls behind competitors offering higher refresh rates like 90Hz or 120Hz.
      • Moderate Charging Speed: 20W charging is reasonable but not the fastest in the market.
      • Camera Performance in Low Light: The rear camera struggles in low-light conditions, resulting in noisy and blurry images.
      • Speaker Placement: While audio quality is good, the side placement can cause muffling in landscape mode.
      • Smudge-Prone Back Panel: The metallic back panel tends to attract fingerprints and smudges.

      Lenovo Tab P12 Review: Verdict

The Lenovo Tab P12 is a compelling option in its price range, offering a balanced mix of features and performance.

While the 60Hz display is a minor drawback, the tablet excels in most other aspects, making it a strong contender against rivals like the OnePlus Pad and Mi Tab 6.

So, if you are looking for a tablet that can handle a bit of everything and that too without burning a hole in your pocket then the Lenovo Tab P12 is a good option.
