Ajay Devgn's 'Son of Sardaar 2' collects ₹24.75 crore nett in its opening weekend, showing strong box office potential after its August 1 release.

"Son of Sardaar 2", featuring Ajay Devgn in the lead, has crossed the mark of Rs 20 crore nett at the box office during its opening weekend.
The film from Vijay Kumar Arora is a sequel to "Son of Sardaar". Also starring Mrunal Thakur and Vindu Dara Singh, the film released in theatres on August 1.
It is produced by Devgn alongside Jyoti Deshpande, N R Pachisia and Pravin Talreja.
According to the trade tracking website Sacnilk, the film has collected Rs 24.75 crore nett during its opening weekend.
"Son of Sardaar 2" opened with Rs 7.25 crore. It earned Rs 8. 25 crore and Rs 9.25 crore on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
The first installment was helmed by Ashwni Dhir and starred Devgn, late actor Mukul Dev, Sanjay Dutt and Sonakshi Sinha.
The story revolved around Jaswinder "Jassi" Singh Randhawa (Devgn), who returns to his village in Punjab after spending years in London to sell ancestral property. But things take an unexpected turn.
The film emerged as a box office hit and grossed Rs 161.48 crore with its worldwide collection.&nbsp;

Hollywood star Mark Ruffalo is in talks to return for the role of Hulk in the upcoming installment of the "Spider-Man" franchise.
According to the entertainment news outlet The Hollywood Reporter, Ruffalo will reprise the role of Bruce Banner/ Hulk in the film.
The 57-year-old actor, also known for starring in projects such as "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", "Rumor Has It", and "13 Going on 30", essayed the role of Hulk for the first time in the 2012 Marvel film "The Avengers".
He went on to reprise the role in several projects, including "Avengers: Age of Ultron" (2015), "Thor: Ragnarok" (2017), and "Avengers: Infinity War" (2018), among others.
"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" stars Tom Holland in the titular role alongside Zendaya. The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. It is set to release in theatres on July 31, 2026.
The plot details are being kept under wraps.
Actors Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, and Liza Colon-Zayas round off the cast of "Spider-Man: Brand New Day".
Ruffalo's latest work is "Mickey 17", which released in March. Headlined by Robert Pattinson, the film was directed by an Oscar-winning filmmaker Bong Joon Ho. The actor portrayed the role of Kenneth Marshall in the film.
It also starred Anamaria Vartolomei and Naomi Ackie in pivotal roles.&nbsp;

Tamil cinema star Dhanush expressed his disappointment over the altered AI ending of his Bollywood debut film "Raanjhanaa".
The film, which originally came out in 2013, was directed by Aanand L Rai and also starred Sonam Kapoor in the lead role. It was recently re-released in theatres.
But this time, the ending was altered with the help of an AI, which got mixed reactions from the audience and was also pointed out by the filmmaker.
Now, the lead actor Dhanush shared his take on the same and said it wasn't the film he committed to 12 years ago.
The 42-year-old actor shared a post on his X handle on Sunday, calling the new version of the film disturbing, adding it has "stripped the soul" of the movie.
"The re-release of 'Raanjhanaa' with an Al-altered climax has completely disturbed me. This alternate ending has stripped the film of its very soul, and the concerned parties went ahead with it despite my clear objection. This is not the film I committed to 12 years ago," he wrote in the post.

The actor said such practices threaten the "integrity of storytelling".
"The use of Al to alter films or content is a deeply concerning precedent for both art and artists. It threatens the integrity of storytelling and the legacy of cinema. sincerely hope that stricter regulations are put in place to prevent such practices in the future," he added.
Set in Varanasi and Delhi, the story of the film follows Kundan (Dhanush), a Hindu boy who falls in love with Zoya (Kapoor), a Muslim girl, from childhood. Towards the end of the film, Kundan is shot at a rally and dies later at a hospital. In the altered version, the actor doesn't die at the end of the film.
Rai has previously slammed production and distribution company Eros for the latest version. The filmmaker said the film didn&rsquo;t need a new climax and had already achieved cult status with its original version.
Following, Eros responded to the maker claiming they have always been at the forefront of leveraging emerging technologies and he objective of the alternative ending was to enhance viewer engagement and present a fresh perspective. Complementing the original storyline and has been clearly labelled as an alternate version.
The script of "Raanjhanaa" was penned by Himanshu Sharma. The film also featured Abhay Deol, Swara Bhasker, and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub in pivotal roles.

It has been almost six decades for Hollywood star Harrison Ford in the industry, but he has no plans to retire and believes there are parts for all ages to play when it comes to acting.
The 83-year-old actor made his debut in 1966 with "Dead Heat on a Merry-Go-Round" and has numerous projects to his credit, including "Blade Runner", "The Fugitive", "Star Wars", "Indiana Jones", and "American Graffiti", among others.
Asked if he has plans to retire anytime soon, Ford simply said "No".
"No. That&rsquo;s one of the things I thought was attractive about the job of an actor, was that they need old people, too, to play old people&rsquo;s parts," he told entertainment news outlet Variety in an interview.
The actor also discussed receiving his first Emmy nomination for the performance in the drama series "Shrinking".
He has been nominated in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series category at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards.
"I don&rsquo;t think there&rsquo;s anything competitive about creativity, and I don&rsquo;t understand the need to compare and contrast one person&rsquo;s work to another&rsquo;s. If you like it, you like it; if you don&rsquo;t like it, look at something else," Ford said.
"I&rsquo;m grateful, but I would have done what I did &mdash; and I&rsquo;ll do what I&rsquo;m doing &mdash; regardless of whether it&rsquo;s deemed worthy of mention or not. Because it&rsquo;s what I do. It&rsquo;s what I love doing. I love telling stories. I love pretending to be somebody else," he added.

Nostalgia is in the air with Smriti Irani's Tulsi Virani back on the small screen to unravel the Virani family saga, the "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi" reboot promising a familiar story rooted in tradition 25 years after it sparked a daily soap trend.
The show, which began airing on Star Plus and JioHotstar on Tuesday night, is remembered for bringing families together in front of the television as they breathlessly watched the goings-on in the affluent joint family.
The first episode focuses on the 38th wedding anniversary of the main protagonists, Mihir and Tulsi. The ideal daughter-in-law is now at the helm of affairs in the Virani family mansion Shanti Niketan and the story opens with her praying to a tulsi plant and reciting the Gayatri Mantra.
The tone is set -- apparently not very different from 2000 when the Ekta Kapoor show first began airing. It went on for 1,800 more episodes right up to 2008.
Two main characters have died -- Ba and Savita Virani are now pictures on the wall and Tulsi is seen reminiscing about the days gone by and speaking to them. Several old-timers made sure to tune into the show, which created a buzz with BJP leader Smriti Irani returning to acting after a long hiatus.
"When I was a child, my mother used to watch the serial... She would watch it everyday. This time also, I watched the first episode and I liked it a lot," a young woman, then just a child, told PTI in Amethi, Irani's former constituency.
In Amethi, where Irani enjoys immense popularity both as a public figure and a performer, residents gathered in groups to watch the premiere episode together.
Many on social media also remembered fondly the time they spent as children and with their family to watch the many upheavals in the Virani family for eight years and various time leaps. Now that the show has returned with an actual time leap, nostalgia has driven them back.

A fan wrote how she used to watch the show with her maternal grandmother, who is no longer alive.

Actor Hiten Tejwani and Gauri Pradhan, who played a married couple on the original show, are also back as Karan and Nandini.

A lot has changed since "Kyunki..." released all those years ago. OTT has revolutionised the entertainment scene with the best of shows from India and abroad available to audiences at the click of a button.
It remains to be seen whether "Kyunki..." manages to grab the attention of younger and newer audiences used to slicker, more contemporary shows and bring back those who tuned in all those years ago.
The "Kyunki..." setting 25 years on remains much the same. Matriarch Tulsi is busy looking after the arrangements for a big party when Mihir surprises her by gifting a car. The show ends with a hint of fresh challenges coming Tulsi's way. There are a few concessions to today's age with references to social media and late night parties.
Will that be enough? "Kyunki..." achieved cult status in daily soaps and became a pop culture moment that was popularly referenced by Karan Johar in "Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham" where Kajol's character is excitedly discussing developments in the show with a neighbour.
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap's popular 2012 gangster drama "Gangs of Wasseypur 1" literally opens with the show's opening montage where Tulsi is inviting viewers to the family drama as a group of people are watching the show in rapt attention but the calm and the TV set is broken by bullets.
Many past favourites "Kasauti Zindagi Ki", "Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai" and "Khichdi" made a comeback but with not much success.
The makers of "Kyunki..." hope to change that.

Actor John Abraham on Tuesday wrote a letter to Chief Justice B R Gavai, urging a review and modification of the recent Supreme Court directive ordering removal of street dogs from the Delhi NCR region.
The letter came a day after the Supreme Court directed the authorities to permanently relocate all strays from streets to shelters "at the earliest".
The 52-year-old, who was named the first honorary director of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India, said dogs are not strays but rather part of the community and loved by many.
"I hope you will agree that these are not 'strays' but community dogs - respected and loved by many, and very much Delhiites in their own right, having lived in the region as neighbours to humans for generations," Abraham said.
The actor stated that the directive is in conflict with the Animal Birth Control (ABC) Rules, 2023, and the apex court's past judgements on the issue which have consistently "upheld a methodical sterilisation programme".
"The ABC Rules prohibit the displacement of dogs, instead mandating their sterilisation, vaccination, and return to the very areas they inhabit. Where the ABC programme is implemented earnestly, it works," he said, giving the example of cities like Jaipur and Lucknow.
He added, "Delhi can achieve the same. During sterilisation, dogs are vaccinated against rabies, and sterilisation results in calmer animals, fewer fights and bites, as they have no puppies to protect. Because community dogs are territorial, they also deter unsterilised, unvaccinated dogs from entering their areas." According to the actor, removing street dogs from public spaces doesn't guarantee a solution to the issue.
"Delhi has an estimated 10 lakh dogs. It is neither practical nor humane to shelter or relocate them all, and removal only opens the door for unfamiliar, unsterilised, and unvaccinated dogs to move in&mdash;leading to greater competition, territorial disputes, and public health risks.
"I respectfully request a review and modification of this judgment in favour of the lawful, humane, and effective ABC approach, which safeguards public health while honouring the constitutional values of compassion and coexistence, a stand the Supreme Court has consistently upheld since 2015." On Monday, the supreme court directed all the strays to be removed and put in shelters by the Delhi government and civic bodies of Gurugram, Noida and Ghaziabad.
A bench of Justices J B Pardiwala and R Mahadevan noted that there was an "extremely grim" situation due to stray dog bites resulting in rabies, particularly among children.
The court has directed Delhi authorities to start with creating shelters for around 5,000 canines within six to eight weeks.

Actor Rana Daggubati on Monday appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) here in connection with a money laundering case involving illegal online betting and gambling by certain platforms.
The federal agency has issued summons to four actors--Prakash Raj, Vijay Deverakonda, Rana Daggubati and Lakshmi Manchu-- last month, asking them to appear on different dates at the agency's zonal office here for questioning in the case.
Raj and Deverakonda earlier appeared. The actors had "endorsed" online betting apps allegedly involved in generating "illicit" funds, according to official sources.
During their appearance, the agency is expected to record the statements of the actors under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The ED had taken cognisance of as many as five state police FIRs to register its case against these actors and a number of other celebrities and social media influencers.
These individuals are suspected to have "endorsed" online betting apps for a celebrity or endorsement fee, ED sources said.
These platforms are alleged to have generated "illicit" funds through illegal betting and gambling, worth crores of rupees, they said.
Deverakonda, had recently said that he did an endorsement for a gaming app, adding that gaming apps are completely legal and recognised by the government, licensed as a business.

Shots have been fired at comedian Kapil Sharma&rsquo;s recently-opened restaurant in Canada&rsquo;s Surrey for the second time in less than a month, police said.
Surrey Police Service (SPS) said its officers are investigating the incident that occurred at the Newton neighbourhood business in the early hours of Thursday.
SPS did not name the business establishment, however, media reports said Sharma's Kap's Cafe was the target of the attack.
&ldquo;At approximately 4:40 am on August 7, 2025, SPS Frontline officers responded to a report of shots fired outside a business in the 8400 block of 120 Street. The same business was the location of a similar incident on July 10, 2025,&rdquo; SPS said.
Police further said that the staff on the premises were not injured while multiple shots caused damage to the windows and the building.
A day after last month&rsquo;s attack, the cafe had said in an Instagram post that they were "processing the shock" but stand firm against violence.
"We opened Kap's Cafe with hopes of bringing warmth, community, and joy through delicious coffee and friendly conversation. To have violence intersect with that dream is heartbreaking. We are processing this shock but we are not giving up," the cafe said in its statement.
The cafe opened in Surrey, British Columbia, on July 4.
