Amitabh rekindles Sholay memories with ₹20 ticket

The legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan has taken a nostalgic trip, sharing a cherished memento from yesteryears: an original ticket from the iconic film "Sholay," priced at merely Rs 20. Released in 1975, this blockbuster will soon celebrate its 50th anniversary on August 15.

Amitabh, a prominent figure in Indian cinema, shared several images on his personal blog on Monday morning. Among these was the prized "Sholay" ticket. Reflecting on the contrast between past and present, the actor remarked on how movie tickets once equaled the cost of today's aerated drinks in cinema halls.

"The 'SHOLAY' ticket was kept and preserved at Rs 20! I am told that is the price of an aerated drink in theatre halls nowadays. Is that a fact? So much to say, but say not. Affection and love," Amitabh wrote, highlighting the sentimentality attached to the preserved artifact.

Directed by Ramesh Sippy, "Sholay" became the highest-grossing film in India in its release year. It featured Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra in the lead roles of Jai and Veeru, former convicts hired by a retired policeman to capture the notorious dacoit terrorizing the village of Ramgarh.

The stellar cast also included Amjad Khan, Sanjeev Kumar, Hema Malini, and Jaya Bachchan. This cinematic masterpiece remains etched in the hearts of audiences.
