USA shock Bangladesh to earn unassailable 2-0 lead in a 3-match series ahead of T20 World Cup

The second Twenty20 international saw the United States triumph over Bangladesh by six runs, securing a surprise victory in the three-match series held in Houston, Texas.

Bangladesh fell short of the target by scoring 138 runs in 19.3 overs, chasing 145 to win on Thursday, with Ali Khan taking 3 wickets for the USA. With this victory, The USA also took the unassailable lead in the series as the hosts won the first T20I as well.

After the game, Player of the Match Ali Khan said, "I think it was a low-scoring game, the wicket slowed down in the second innings. Credit goes to the bowlers, who kept taking wickets. Put the pressure back on Bangladesh. It was a good 19th over by Netravalkar, which helped me in the last over. My goal was to back myself and try to get the wicket. That four put the pressure back on me, but I returned to my strengths. The tail-enders expect yorkers, so tried to go short."

Earlier, US skipper Monank Patel top-scored with 42 off 38 balls and was well-supported by fellow opener Steven Taylor (31) and Aaron Jones's 35.

Shoriful, Mustafizur Rahman and Rishad all took two wickets each for Bangladesh.

The series is being played as part of the build-up to the Twenty20 World Cup in the US and Caribbean, which starts on June 1.

The series' final game will also take place in Houston on Saturday.
