American Scottie Scheffler won his first British Open on Sunday in a dominant fashion, raising the Claret Jug at the 153rd iteration of golf's oldest tournament four strokes ahead of Harris English.

With this win, Scheffler secured his second major of the year and moved one step closer to completing the career Grand Slam.

The final round at Royal Portrush saw Scheffler open with precision, as he placed a shot within 10 inches for an early birdie. Just an hour into the competition, his lead ballooned to seven shots, and he maintained at least a four-shot advantage through to the finish.

Closing with an impressive 3-under 68, Scheffler claimed victory by four shots, setting himself up for a potential sweep of all major titles when he heads to the U.S. Open next year.

Scheffler’s record is remarkable; after winning the Masters by three shots in 2022 and again by four last year, he secured the PGA Championship by five shots this May. With this British Open victory, he completed the tournament at 17-under 267, marking his fourth win of the year.

Notably, Scheffler is the first golfer in a century to achieve his initial four major wins each by at least three-shot margins. Since February 2022, his winning streak includes 20 titles worldwide, and impressively, he has converted his last 11 consecutive 54-hole leads into victories.

Harris English finished second after shooting a 66, while Chris Gotterup took third place with a 67, concluding at 12 under.
