Kolkata, Aug 14 (PTI) Dr. Vece Paes, a distinguished member of India's 1972 Munich Olympic Games bronze-winning hockey team and father of the legendary tennis player Leander Paes, passed away in Kolkata on Thursday morning at the age of 80.

Dr. Paes was battling the advanced stages of Parkinson's disease and was admitted to a city hospital on Tuesday morning.

Throughout his esteemed career, Dr. Paes wore many hats in the Indian sports sector. He was a key midfielder in the Indian hockey team and showcased his versatility by participating in various sports, including football, cricket, and rugby.
