Rohit Sharma marks 250 IPL games milestone, sets Mumbai Indians record for most sixes

In a landmark achievement, Rohit Sharma, the former captain of Mumbai Indians, etched his name into the annals of IPL history by becoming only the second player ever to participate in 250 IPL matches. This feat was previously achieved only by MS Dhoni, the revered former captain of Chennai Super Kings, earlier in the season.

Rohit reached this significant milestone during the match against Punjab Kings held in Mullanpur on Thursday evening. The Indian skipper, fresh from scoring a stellar century in the preceding match—although in a losing effort—continued to show his class in this encounter. Despite not scoring heavily this time, Rohit played a crucial role, building a solid partnership with Suryakumar Yadav, who is currently ranked as the world's No. 1 T20 batter. Rohit adeptly supported Yadav, contributing significantly to the 81-run partnership.

Rohit's innings ended at 36 runs from 25 deliveries, when he was dismissed in the 12th over by Punjab’s stand-in captain, Sam Curran. Before his dismissal, Rohit managed to set another record for the Mumbai Indians. With his dynamic batting, he surpassed the former record held by MI's batting coach, Kieron Pollard, to become the highest six-hitter in the history of the franchise. Rohit's new record now stands at 224 maximums, one more than Pollard's tally of 223.

Glenn Maxwell reveals he's also nursing hip injury, unlikely for clash against KKR
