Remember Shah Rukh Khan vs Wankhede security personnel from 2012? Ex-KKR director reveals what happened

It's been 12 years to the infamous Wankhede incident involving Shah Rukh Khan and the stadium security personnel that not just left a bad taste in the mouth but also left SRK with a ban of 5 years.

The Kolkata Knight Riders defended 140 against the Mumbai Indians, the only time in the IPL KKR beat MI at Wankhede. It hasn't been repeated since then.

But the night didn't end with just the result. Bollywood actor and KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan was involved in an ugly spat with the Mumbai Cricket Association security staff after the match and was later on banned for five years from MCA premises. The ban, however, was lifted three years later.

MCA alleged that Shah Rukh tried to force his way to the grounds after the match, and abused and manhandled guards after he was stopped. However, SRK explained that is children were "physically manhandled in the name of security" by guards, which had angered him.

What happened between Shah Rukh Khan and the Wankhede security personnel in 2012?

12 years after that incident and a few hours before another MI vs KKR match at the Wankhede, former KKR director Joy Bhattacharjya explained what exactly happened that night.

"The last time KKR beat MI at the Wankhede, I was still a part of that dugout. It's been a while, but today might just be the day!" Bhattacharjya wrote on Twitter.

A user replied, "No Joy KKR has been cursed from the day SRK aboused the Wankhede security guard."

To which Bhattacharjya gave a strong reply and wrote, "KKR won two championships after that incident. And he did not abuse, I was there. And the next time, stay calm when someone catcalls your young daughter."
