Mitchell Starc, the biggest buy in IPL history, is yet to take a wicket in 2024 edition | KKR

His current team looks in stellar shape so far but if he were to strike form, Kolkata could nearly be invincible as a bowling powerhouse.

Mitchell Starc, the biggest buy in IPL history, is yet to take a wicket in 2024 edition | KKR

Nine years after his IPL stint with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Mitchell Starc returned to the cash-rich league with a massive bang in 2024.

At the December mini-auction, the Australian pace sensation was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders at an astronomical price of ₹24.75 crore, making him the costliest-ever buy in the league's history.

And naturally, the franchise hoped for some gains. But two games in, the left-armer has failed to capitalise on his opportunities.

KKR have won both the matches but without any worthy contributions from the legendary bowler.

Instead, he has conceded innumerable runs and now his figure reads something like this : 8-0-100-0.

He has conceded 100 runs across two outings without a single maiden to his credit. His economy rate also appears deplorable at 12.50.

And wickets? None. Nada. Zero. Zilch.

Interestingly, this performance is not even marginally close to the two seasons he played with RCB.

In the two seasons, he took a total of 34 wickets, while also registering his to-date best IPL figures of 4/15. His economy rate too was half of what it is in 2024.

His current team looks in stellar shape so far but if he were to strike form, Kolkata could nearly be invincible as a bowling powerhouse.
