IPL 2024, DC vs KKR: Kolkata Knight Riders thrash Delhi Capitals by 106 runs

The Kolkata Knight Riders made it a hat-trick of wins in IPL 2024 as they thrashed the Delhi Capitals by 106 runs in Vizag on Wednesday. It's their 2nd-biggest victory in terms of runs in IPL history.

Shreyas Iyer's decision to bat first proved right as KKR smashed 272/7, the second-highest team total in IPL history.

It all began when Sunil Narine did what he does best, rip apart the bowlers in the powerplay. He took it a step further this time and smashed 85 off just 39 balls, his highest score in T20 cricket.

He found a willing ally in Angkrish Raghuvanshi who matched him shot after shot. The 18-year-old had a dream IPL debut as he smashed a 27-ball-54.

It was the Andre Russell show post that as he muscled 41 off just 19 balls to help KKR finish at a mammoth 272/7 in 20 overs. He smashed 3 sixes and completed his 200th maximum for the Knight Riders.

Delhi had a forgettable start to their run-chase as they were reduced to 33/4 in 4.3 overs.

Rishabh Pant and Tristan Stubbs gave DC hope with a half-century each but once they both perished, it was curtains for the hosts.

While Varun Chakravarthy took 3 wickets, Vaibhav Arora also stood out with 3 scalps as Delhi was bowled out for 166.

It's the first time in their IPL history that KKR have won all of their first 3 games of a season. DC on the other hand has lost 3 matches in 4 outings.
