Jamshedpur, Aug 5 (PTI) Christopher Kamei’s decisive first-half goal clinched a 1-0 victory for Indian Army FT against a 10-man Tribhuvan Army FC in a Group C match of the Durand Cup held here on Tuesday.

Tribhuvan Army FC concluded their Durand Cup journey with a solitary point from three matches, while Indian Army secured three points from their two outings.

The Nepali side initially dominated the match, dictating the pace and controlling possession. They crafted the first genuine opportunity when Gagandeep Singh deftly kept out Gillespye Jung Karki’s header.

As the game progressed, Indian Army started finding their groove, taking command over possession and crafting opportunities of their own. Their efforts paid off in the 21st minute when Wangden Tamang delivered a precise cross from the left wing to Kamei on the edge of the box. Kamei skillfully controlled the ball with his left foot and slotted a low shot into the bottom corner, past the diving goalkeeper.

The situation worsened for Tribhuvan Army as they were reduced to 10 men in the 29th minute. Goalkeeper Bikash Kuthu was shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge on Liton Shil outside the penalty box, as Shil seemed set to score after evading the defense and rounding the keeper.

Kamei’s resultant free kick narrowly missed extending their lead, striking the crossbar.

Despite being a man down, Tribhuvan Army exhibited resilience, continuously pressing forward in pursuit of an equalizer. They managed to find promising positions in the attack, but strong defensive efforts thwarted their attempts, keeping the score unchanged at the half-time break.

Ultimately, Christopher Kamei’s lone goal in the first half was enough to secure Indian Army's first win of the tournament, earning them three valuable points.
