FIFA World cup 2022: South Korea full schedule, match timings, squad, live telecast and streaming

With an aim to repeat the 2002 FIFA World Cup success, South Korea will head for their 10th consecutive World Cup finals appearance in Qatar this year. The Asian football giant is placed in Group H, which comprises Portugal, Ghana and Uruguay.

The Taeguk Warriors had their best-ever finish in 2002 FIFA World Cup when they entered the semifinal round. The participation in Qatar 2022 will be their 11th appearance at football's grandest stage - the most from an Asian country.

Son Heung-min, South Korea's biggest player

South Korea's hopes of reaching the knockout stage will depend on the form and fitness of Son Heung-min. Having already brushed aside his eye injury, he will be South Korea's main man at the tournament.

The Tottenham forward is the country's biggest football star of the moment.

Son was the first Asian player to win the English Premier League’s Golden Boot award last season.

And at 30 years old, Son is peaking at the right time for the Taeguk Warriors.

Son had his club and country worried when he had a barren spell at the start of this season.

But he banished those fears in September by banging in a 13-minute hat-trick against Leicester City to end an eight-game goalscoring drought.

South Korea team news

On the national front, the South Korean captain has scored in four of the last five friendlies, including the final tune-up match against Cameroon.

He will spearhead the attack along with Wolves forward Hwang Hee-chan, Olympiacos' Hwang Ui-jo and SC Freiburg's Jeong Woo-Yeong.

Can coach Paula Bento turn the fortunes of the South Korean team?

Facing a tricky Group H, the Taeguk Warriors will need to rely on the tactical prowess of their manager Paulo Bento.

The former Portugal coach could be the X-factor in helping South Korea overcome Cristiano Ronaldo and Co.
