FIFA World Cup 2022 POL vs KSA: Poland beat Saudi Arabia 2-0 in thrilling tie

Coming from a superb 2-1 win over heavyweights Argentina in their previous encounter, Saudi Arabia failed to continue their form in the FIFA World Cup 2022 as the Falcons fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Robert Lewandowski's Poland at the Education City Stadium in Qatar, on Saturday.

Despite Saudi Arabia having the majority of chances in the game, their inability of converting them into something fruitful saw them losing to a Poland side who managed to convert their chances to perfection.

Skipper Robert Lewandowski starred for the team after providing an assist to Zielinski in the 39th minute and turning into a goalscorer himself in the 82nd minute as the 34-year-old scored his first career goal in the FIFA World Cup.

The Falcons would have come back in the fray as the team managed to get a penalty just before half-time. However, Poland goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny didn't let that happen as he saved both the penalty and the following rebound which proved to be vital for the Polish side.

The victory saw Poland reach 4 points in Group C and the team can now be considered as one of the two teams to qualify from their group as well.

Saudi Arabia will have to avoid defeat in their final group game against Mexico in order to keep their last 16 dreams alive.
