FIFA World Cup 2022 MEX vs POL: Mexico and Poland share points in thrilling Group C encounter

The second match of Group C saw Mexico and Poland fight out a goalless yet entertaining draw in their FIFA World Cup 2022 opener at Stadium 974 in Qatar on Tuesday.

With a difference of 13 ranks between Mexico (13) and Poland (26) in the FIFA rankings, the match was expected to be a tight one considering the quality of players both sides possess.
The first half saw both the teams go for the win and Mexico looked the closest to opening the scoring in the game. Poland ended up not getting any clear-cut chances in the first half and ended the half with no shots on target.

The second half saw Poland take initiative again which resulted in the team getting a penalty in the 54th minute after striker Robert Lewandowski was fouled close to the goal. The 34-year-old, however, failed to convert his spot kick after Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa came to the rescue for the Mexicans as he has done in the previous games as well.
