FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 : Costa Rica will have a big task on their hands in the FIFA World Cup when they begin their campaign on November 23 in Qatar. Costa Rica are placed in Group E alongside heavyweights Germany, Spain and Japan.

Costa Rica's history in FIFA World Cup

However, the Los Ticos could take inspiration from their 2014 World Cup heroics, when they topped a group containing three world champions, beating both Uruguay and Italy before drawing 0-0 with England, on the path to a penalty shoot-out defeat to the Netherlands in the last eight.

Now under another Colombian manager, Luis Fernando Suarez, Costa Rica are again looking to upset the odds.

On competing against Spain, Germany and Japan, Suarez said: "For me, the most important thing is that all of our players when playing each of these games is fully aware and has full knowledge of the qualities that each of our rivals possesses. Spain, with their ball possession. Japan, and how they like to open play up. Germany, and the intensity of their game. We've already done our homework and looked at their games."
